Amtrak Employee Stories: Meet Lauren A., Amtrak Trainmaster
Lauren joined Amtrak more than seven years ago as a Management Associate in the Transportation Department. Prior to coming to Amtrak, she worked at Metro-North railroad.  After she completed the Management Associate Program, she was offered a Trainmaster position with the company.  We asked Lauren a few questions about her career at Amtrak.
Q: What gets you excited about coming to work?
A: I love finding opportunities to make a difference in someone’s life. Each day brings a new experience and keeps my job interesting. Ensuring our passengers are safe, receiving excellent customer service, and become repeat passengers is rewarding and ultimately my goal.
Q: What do you tell your friends about working at Amtrak?
A: I tell my friends the career possibilities are endless at Amtrak. The growth that I have experienced is beyond measure. And, the travel benefits are a definite plus!
Q: Tell us more!
A: Part of being a Trainmaster at Amtrak is hiring Assistant Conductors. My mission is to look beyond the Assistant Conductor role to see if the person in front of me is the best fit candidate and to see if they are capable of becoming a “face for Amtrak” now and in the future. Knowing the people I hire will be able to develop their career and eventually move on to greater roles is very rewarding.
